About the RG Security Benchmarking Working Group

Given that security concerns are of great relevance nowadays, many academic and industrial organizations are conducting extensive research on novel security solutions. For example, the development, smart deployment and optimal utilization of security appliances like intrusion detection and protection systems (IDPS), Firewalls and DDoS defense systems (DDS), have moved into the focus for secure and performant day-to-day operations. The SPEC Research [Security Benchmarking Working Group], officially called [Benchmarking Architectures for Security Solutions], aims to contribute towards addressing the increasing demand for representative and rigorous security benchmarks for computing systems, particularly for cloud platforms. The goal of the working group is to foster and facilitate innovative research through exchange of ideas and experiences. Its membership body currently includes representatives of Siemens Corporate Research (USA), University of Coimbra (Portugal), University of Würzburg (Germany) and ERNW GmbH (Germany).
